The Numinous Treasure Supreme Salvation Scripture 太一救苦天尊说拔度血湖宝忏

Anonymous author. Judging from the textual content, it should have been compiled after the Northern Song Dynasty.

Consisting of one scroll, it is included in The Daozang (Taoist Canon), under the Dongxuan Section, Ritual Category.

The text states that Taiyi the Heavenly Worthy of Rescuing from Suffering sat together with other deities, and True Immortal Miaoxing stepped forward from the ranks to describe the sufferings of the Blood Lake Hell. It is said that "all beings who died of bloodshed in this hell are covered in stench, their bodies filthy and foul-smelling"; all souls who died in childbirth, or from bloodshed-related injuries in the mortal world, fall into this hell, enduring unbearable suffering with no hope of escape forever. At that time, the Heavenly Worthy of Rescuing from Suffering recited the "Feixuan Spiritual Chapters" and promulgated them to all hells, radiating universal light, enabling the sinful souls in the Blood Lake Hell to escape the suffering realms and see the sun again. The Heavenly Worthy further instructed people to pay homage to 139 deities and true immortals including the Three Pure Ones and the Four Assistants, and exhorted them to repent for numerous sins committed in past and present lives, and to faithfully venerate 21 spiritual and underworld officials of Fengdu. Notably, the repentance text uses the karmic retributions of the Blood Lake Hell to admonish the world against infanticide, abortion, and drowning baby girls.
