Peng Chunyi was a figure of the Ming Dynasty.

His courtesy name was Zhenfu, and his literary name was Taihuashanren (Hermit of Mount Taihua).

Afflicted with a foot illness, he resided in Tianning Temple in Pilin. There, he encountered an extraordinary person, who gave him nine bayberries to eat. Immediately after consuming them, his illness was cured. This experience inspired him to dedicate himself to the profound studies of Taoism, and he spared no efforts in his pursuit, undaunted by hardships.

He traveled extensively to sacred mountains such as Mount Luofu, Mount Nanyue, and Mount Huashan. Later, he settled in Tiezhu Palace (Iron Pillar Palace) in Hongdu, Nanchang, Jiangxi Province. It was there that he met Wu Xuanzi, a Taoist priest, who taught him the techniques of Huangbai Jindan (the Taoist art of refining "yellow and white" elixirs, traditionally associated with alchemical transmutation or immortality elixirs).

Peng Chunyi authored Chengzhi Lu (Record of Inheriting Aspirations), a work in three volumes that expounds on the Taoist doctrines and techniques of Huangbai Alchemy.

Ordained at 25 after a dream from the Celestial Master, he has practiced for 25 years under Master Zeng Guangliang.
