Purportedly preached by
Yuanshi Tianzun (the Primeval Lord of Heaven) to the Perfected One of Green Gauze, this scripture states that all sentient beings in the mortal world who fail to cultivate the true
Dao "are ignorant of the operation of the
Five Elements and the surveillance of the Eleven Luminaries, which govern their calamities and misfortunes". If one can observe the movement cycles of the celestial stars and constellations to foresee impending disasters, sculpt and paint icons of the Eleven Luminaries, establish Taoist altars, and recite the scriptures and divine spells, they will be able to "ward off celestial disasters above, protect and safeguard emperors and sovereigns, dispel poisons and harms below, and deliver all the people". The text contains the Universal Spell of the Nine Stars, the Divine Spells of the Five Planets, the Divine Spells of the Eleven Luminaries, and the Three Adoration Odes as revealed by Yuanshi Tianzun.
