The Qingshui Dao 清水道

Qingshui Dao (Clear Water Dao) is a Taoist organization and a branch of Tianshi Dao (Celestial Master Dao).
Legend has it that it was founded by a house slave of the Zhang Celestial Master, but in reality, it was a form of Taoist school that used talismanic water. It began to prevail during the Wei and Jin dynasties. Sanjing Neijie Jing (Scripture of Internal Explanations of the Three Heavens) states: "Now there are those who follow the Wudoumi Dao (Five Pecks of Rice Dao), those who follow the Wuwei Bohua Dao (Dao of Non-Action and Sowing Flowers) and Buddhism, and those who follow the Qingshui Dao." "Laojun (Lord Laozi) made the Chinese people follow the Great Dao of Non-Action, the Hu people (ethnic minorities) follow Buddhism, and the people of Chu and Yue, where the Yin-Yang qi is thin, follow the Great Dao of Purity and Frugality."

Qingshui Dao specialized in using clear water to perform rituals for curing illnesses and dispelling disasters. Furthermore, according to Sanjing Neijie Jing: "On the day of their pure and bright prayers, they have no Taoist hall or kitchen to shelter them, no talismans, documents, or elaborate rituals. They only burn incense and worship towards a jar of clear water, claiming that the Dao lies in the water."

Daoxue Zhuan (Biographies of Daoist Scholars) also records that Wang Puyang, a master of Qingshui Dao, cured foot diseases by washing feet with clear water and revived a jujube tree by pouring water on it. It is said that Emperor Jianwen of the Jin Dynasty once studied under Wang Puyang.
