The Qiu Xuanqing 丘玄清

Qiu Xuanqing (1327-1393) was a native of Fuping (now part of Shaanxi Province) during the late Yuan and early Ming dynasties.

In his early years, he became a Quanzhen Taoist priest under Huang Dezhen. In the early years of the Hongwu era (1369), he went to Wudang Mountain to study under the revered Zhang Sanfeng, residing at Wulong Nunnery.

Later, local authorities recommended him to the imperial court for his virtue and wisdom. He was appointed as a Censor and later transferred to the position of Minister of Rites. Whenever there were grand sacrifices to heaven and earth, the emperor would stay in the fasting palace, and sometimes consult him on matters of rain and sunshine. His replies and predictions were always accurate, earning him deep respect from the emperor. He constantly recited Tao Te Ching and Huangting Jing in his daily life.

He passed away in the 16th year of the Hongwu era at the age of 67.
