The Shangqing Eleven Great Luminaries Lamp Ritual The author is unknown.

It was probably compiled during the Yuan Dynasty or the early Ming Dynasty.

Consisting of one scroll, it is included in the Weiyi (Rituals and Etiquette) category of The Dongzhen Section in the Daoist Canon.

As one of the Taoist lamp rituals, this text is used for praying for blessings and eliminating disasters. Practitioners sequentially light lamps in front of the divine throne, offer homage to the Shangqing Eleven Great Luminaries, perform worship and eulogy, and pray for the removal of calamities and bestowal of blessings.

The so-called Eleven Great Luminaries refer to: the Sun Emperor of the Sun Palace, the Moon Emperor of the Moon Palace, the Jupiter Emperor of Eastern Wood Virtue (Zhonghua Star Lord), the Mars Emperor of Southern Fire Virtue (Yinghuo Law-Enforcing Star Lord), the Venus Emperor of Western Metal Virtue (Taibai Tianhao Star Lord), the Mercury Emperor of Northern Water Virtue (Chenxing Sizhan True Lord), the Saturn Emperor of Central Earth Virtue (Dihou Zhenxing True Lord), the Rahu Hidden Star Lord of Jiaochu Jianxing (Luomian Yin Yao), the Ketu Falling Star Lord of Jiaozhong Shenwei (Zhuixing Jidu), the Ziqi Dao Yao Star Lord of Tianyi, and the Comet Star Lord of Taiyi Yuebo (Hui Xing).

All the above are deities of the sun, moon, and constellations in heaven.
