Zhengyi Rites of the Golden Scripture, Jade Records and Precious Memorials

The author is unknown.

Judging from its content, the text was likely written by a Zhengyi Taoist priest during the Southern and Northern Dynasties or the Sui-Tang period. Consisting of one scroll, it is included in the category of Ritual Texts in the Dongshen Section (the Section of Cave Spirits) of the Daoist Canon.

This text is divided into four chapters, namely Chapter of Repenting Sins and Praying for Peace, Chapter of Reporting Merits, Chapter of Protecting Infants, and Chapter of Executing Evils and Subduing Ghosts. It describes the altar sacrifice rituals performed by Zhengyi Taoist priests on behalf of laypeople, who present memorials to the Supreme Lord Lao, the Heavenly Master, and other deities to repent sins and pray for peace, report merits and request rewards, bless infants, and execute evil beings and subdue ghosts.

The ritual procedures include summoning divine officials, submitting memorials to heaven, and invoking deities.

The content and wording of this text are quite similar to those of Zhengyi Rites of the Precept-Instructed Retreat.
