The Supreme Venerable’s Scripture for Protecting the Nation, Praying for Rain, and Dispelling Disasters

The author of this scripture is unknown, and it is believed to have originated during the Song or Yuan dynasties.

It consists of one scroll and is included in the Taoist Canon, under the category of "Original Texts" in the Cave Truth Division.

The scripture purports to be a discourse delivered by the Primordial Heavenly Venerable to the Perfected One of Moonlight and other beings.

It states that whenever floods, fires, famines, bandit raids, epidemics, or unrest within a nation occur, reciting or copying this scripture will prompt various deities to dispel the disasters. In the case of severe drought, one may establish an altar, hold a vegetarian feast to offer sacrifices, and the Heavenly Emperor will command the Dragon Kings of the Eight Legions, Cloud Masters, Thunder Gods, Rain Masters, and other deities to send rain, ensuring a bumper harvest of all five grains.

A five-character eulogy is attached at the end of the text.
