The Taishang Dongfang Neijing Zhu 大上洞房内经注
Paul PengShare
Inner Scripture and Commentary on the Supreme Bridal Chamber (Dashang Dongfang Neijing Zhu). This scripture falsely claims to be a teaching bestowed by the Central Yellow Old Lord (Zhongyang Huanglaojun) to Realized Person Zhou (Zhou Zhenren); in reality, it was likely composed by Taoist priests of the Shangqing School during the Six Dynasties. The work is already mentioned in Zhou Shi Mingtong Ji (Records of Zhou’s Mysterious Communication) by Tao Hongjing of the Liang Dynasty.

The original text consists of one scroll and is included in the Yujue Lei (Jade Commentaries Category) of the Daozang (Taoist Canon), under the Dongzhen Bu (True Grotto Section).
It mainly discusses the method of contemplating the three deities of the Bridal Chamber (cunsi Dongfang sanshen). The Bridal Chamber (Dongfang) is one of the nine palaces in the human head. It is said that three divine true beings (Shenzhen) reside there: the Central Yellow Old Lord, the Left Lord Wuying (Zuowu Yingjun), and the Right Lord Baiyuan (Youbai Yuanjun).
This text details the names, appearances, residences of the Three Yuan Lords (Sanyuanjun) as well as the method of contemplating these three lords. It states that practicing in accordance with this method can lead to becoming an immortal (shengxian).
