The Tuoba Chengzhen 拓拔诚贞

The Tuoba Chengzhen 拓拔诚贞

Paul Peng
Tuoba Chengzhen lived during the Republic of China.

At the age of twenty, he joined the military. In his middle age, feeling the ups and downs of the world, he became a Taoist priest on Wudang Mountain and studied under Master Wu Zongsheng.

He resided at Baiyun Guan in Beijing for many years, then returned to Changchun Temple in Wuchang, and soon afterward went to Chicheng Mountain on Tiantai, where he stayed as a guest Taoist at Dongshen Palace.

According to Records of Changchun Temple, he had a close friendship with Li Ruiqing, a former Qing Dynasty Hanlin Scholar.

When the 1911 Revolution broke out, Li Ruiqing, a member of the Han Army Banner, served as the Judicial Commissioner of Jiangsu Province at that time. During this period, many Manchu bannermen were killed or captured, and Chengzhen risked his life to rescue Li Ruiqing's entire family.
