The Ye Xizhen 叶希真

The Ye Xizhen 叶希真

Paul Peng
Ye Xizhen was a native of Jianning (now Jian'ou County, Fujian Province) during the Song and Yuan dynasties.

He was a descendant of Ye Fashan, styled Yunlai, who served as a state preceptor in the Tang Dynasty.

He studied under True Person Huang Leikun and was taught the Taoist doctrines of the Qingwei School.

He lived in seclusion at Wulong Guan (Wulong Taoist Temple).

In the 23rd year of the Zhiyuan era (1286), he went to the imperial court to pay homage to the emperor. The emperor greatly believed in his Taoist teachings, so he issued an imperial edict to rename Wulong Guan as Wulong Lingying Palace (Wulong Responsive Palace) and appointed Ye Xizhen as its abbot.
