The Zhang Daogui 张道贵

Zhang Daogui was a native of Changsha in the Yuan Dynasty. His original name was Yunyan, and his literary name was Lei Weng (Old Man of Thunder).

During the Zhiyuan era (1264-1294), he went to Wudang Mountain and became a Taoist monk, studying under Wang Zhenchang. Later, together with Ye Yunlai and Liu Dongyang, he paid respects to True Person Huang Leikun and received the transmission of the Qingwei School’s Taoist doctrines of "Xiantian" (Primordial Heaven, a core concept in Taoist cosmology referring to the state before the formation of the material world). After that, he returned to Wulong Palace and dedicated himself to quiet spiritual cultivation.

He initiated more than 200 disciples into Taoism and passed away at Ziran An (Ziran Hut, a small Taoist hermitage).
