Zhao Xingcui was a person of the Ming Dynasty and styled himself "Huanyang Daoren" (Daoist of Returning Yang).

By nature, he was simple, tranquil, and indifferent to material gains, and he had a sincere aspiration to pursue Daoism. While living at home, he regularly paid homage to Lü Dongbin (a revered immortal in Daoism) and was proficient in the "fuluan jisuan" technique (a traditional Chinese divination practice involving spirit writing with a phoenix-shaped wooden tool and milfoil-stalk calculation).

Later, he passed down Lü Zu’s (a respectful title for Lü Dongbin) Bapin Jing (The Eight-Rank Classic) to the world.
