The Zhao Zhensong 赵真嵩

Zhao Zhensong (?–1628) was a native of Langya, Shandong during the Ming Dynasty. His original name was Deyuan, and his courtesy name was Fuyangzi.

As recorded in Tai Shang Lü Mai Yuan Liu (Origin and Development of the Precept Lineage of the Supreme Lord), he mastered Confucian classics and historical records, and extensively read key scriptures of Taoism and Buddhism at the age of 20. When he was 25, both his parents passed away, so he abandoned his home and traveled to Wudang Mountain.

Later, he went to Maoshan Mountain to read Taoist classics. There, he met Zhang Jinging, and admiring Zhang’s virtue and moral character, he requested to become Zhang’s disciple. Zhang Jinging then renamed him "Zhensong" and conferred precepts and teachings on him. In the second year of the Jiajing reign (1523), Zhao went to Wangwu Mountain to diligently practice Taoist doctrines and essentials. After three years of practicing "Great Calmness" (a core Taoist meditation practice), he eventually attained complete mastery of the "Six Spiritual Powers" (a term in Taoism referring to supernatural abilities gained through cultivation).

In the first year of the Chongzhen reign (1628), Zhao passed on his Taoist teachings to Wang Ping. After that, he returned to Tiantaishan Mountain and soon went to Wangwu Mountain, where he lived in seclusion until his death. He was recognized as the sixth-generation "Law Master" (a title for Taoists specializing in propagating precepts) of the Longmen School.
