Threefold Secrets of Ziyang on Wuzhen Pian 紫阳真人悟真直指详说三乘秘要

Originally attributed to Weng Baoguang, this work is actually an appendix to Dai Qizong’s Annotations and Commentaries on the Wu Zhen Pian (Awakening to Truth) compiled during the Yuan Dynasty.

Included in the Jade Commentaries Category of the The Dongzhen Section within the Taoist Canon (The Daozang), it was later reissued as an independent one-scroll text.

Threefold Secrets of Ziyang on Wuzhen Pian

The book collects several poems and prose works by Taoist priests of the Song and Yuan dynasties. Among them, three core texts elaborate on Weng Baoguang’s intention to divide the Wu Zhen Pian into three scrolls: Direct Instructions and Detailed Explanations on the Wu Zhen Pian, Treatise on the Secret Essentials of the Three Vehicles, and Poems on the Secret Essentials of the Three Vehicles. It also includes A Textual Research and Discrimination (which distinguishes the forgery of the "Annotations by Xue Daoguang") and Images and Symbols of the Golden Elixir (which explains terms related to Internal Alchemy (Neidan)). Additionally, there is a Preface by Bai Yunzi, describing how Chen Daling transmitted Weng Baoguang’s annotations, and Chronicle of the Origin and Events of the Wu Zhen Pian, recording the life stories of Zhang Boduan and Xue Daoguang.
