Compiled by Li Bo, a Taoist priest of the Tang Dynasty at Louzhen Hall, White Deer Cave, Lushan Mountain.

The book was completed in 805 CE. It is recorded in The New Book of Tang: Bibliography of Arts and Literature.

Transmission of the True Lineage

The original one volume is included in Yunji Qiqian.

The preface briefly recounts the transmission of the scriptures of the Shangqing School. It says the scriptures had been passed down twelve generations from Yang Xi of the Eastern Jin Dynasty to Li Hanguang in the mid-Tang Dynasty.

The main text compiles brief biographies of ten masters: Yang Xi, Xu Hui, Xu Huangmin, Lu Xiujing, Sun Youyue, Tao Hongjing, Wang Yuanzhi, Pan Shizheng, Sima Chengzhen, Li Hanguang. It is important material for studying the history of the Shangqing School from the Six Dynasties to the Sui and Tang.

This book is listed in *Catalogue of Lost Scriptures in the Daozang.*
