Triple Commentary on the Awakening of Ziyang 紫阳真人悟真篇三注

Originally attributed to "Annotations by Xue Daoguang (Zixian), Lu Shu (Ziye), and Chen Zhixu (Shangyangzi)".

According to Quan Ti (A Ladder to Understanding) of the Wu Zhen Pian by the True Person Ziyang at the beginning of the compilation, the entire work was compiled and engraved by Zhang Shanghong of the Yuan Dynasty.

The original text consists of three scrolls, while the version included in the Jade Commentaries Category of the The Dongzhen Section within the Taoist Canon (The Daozang) is divided into five scrolls.

Textual research shows that the "Annotations by Xue Daoguang" included in this work is actually by Weng Baoguang. The annotations by Weng, Lu, and Chen all belong to the Yin-Yang school of alchemical methods in the Southern School, advocating extracting the true Yang from Kan ☵ (trigram of water) within a person of the same kind to refine the Golden Elixir. Among the three, Chen Zhixu is the synthesizer—his annotations not only expound alchemical methods but also often cite supernatural stories of predecessors from the Zhong-Lü Golden Elixir Sect to metaphorically explain the alchemical Dao, making it accessible and easy to understand.
