Lie Xian Zhuan — 黃帝 (Yellow Emperor)
列仙传·黃帝
原文 Original Chinese
The Yellow Emperor was a title known as Xuanyuan. He could summon and command all deities, calling them to court and making them serve him. Though young, he could speak; though sage-like, he had foreknowledge, understanding the principles of all things. He considered himself as a cloud master and took on the form of a dragon embodying the Dao. He chose his own day of death and bid farewell to his ministers. When he died, he was buried on Qiaoshan Mountain; the mountain collapsed, but the coffin was empty without a body, containing only his sword and shoes. Immortal texts say: The Yellow Emperor collected copper from the Shoushan Mountains and cast a tripod at the foot of Jing Mountain. When the tripod was completed, a dragon with a beard descended to greet him, and thus he ascended to heaven through the power of cultivation. All the ministers and officials held onto the dragon's beard to follow the emperor upward. They clung to his bow and the dragon's beard, but when they pulled, the bow fell, and the ministers could not ascend. Looking up at the emperor, they wept bitterly. Therefore, later generations named that place Dinghu Lake and called his bow "Wuhao."
原文 Original Chinese
Divine and sage-like, profound and mysterious—how lofty was the emperor! Temporarily overseeing all things, he crowned his name above a hundred kings. His transformation extended to the six directions; his influence reached without bounds — a reflection of what Taoism truly is. He was temporarily buried on Qiaoshan, yet ascended beyond the vast heavens.
