Who is Zhenyuanzi 镇元子

Zhenyuanzi, also known as "Zhenyuan Daxian" (Great Immortal Zhenyuan), is the ancestor of earthly immortals. His Taoist temple is located in Wuzhuang Temple on Wanshou Mountain in Xiniu Hezhou. There are stories about Zhenyuanzi in Journey to the West.

Zhenyuanzi possesses profound and exquisite Taoist magic. The ginseng fruits he grows ripen once every nine thousand years. Just smelling the magical ginseng fruit can make one live for three hundred and sixty years; eating one can make one live for forty-seven thousand years.

Great Immortal Zhenyuan has three strands of beautiful beard and a childlike face. He carries no weapons, only a jade dust whisk. In his fight with Sun Wukong, his single jade whisk could withstand the golden-hooped rod that holds the power of a thousand jun (a unit of weight, about 30 kilograms). With just a few rounds of casting the magic of "universe in the sleeve", he could put Tang Seng, his disciples, and their horse into his sleeve, showing extremely powerful abilities.

However, the immortal has an open mind and extraordinary bearing. After Sun Wukong invited the Bodhisattva to revive the ginseng fruit tree, Zhenyuanzi let go of past grievances, swore brotherhood with Sun Wukong, and generously held a ginseng fruit feast, entertaining all immortals as well as Tang Seng and his disciples with the precious ginseng fruits, fully displaying the demeanor of a great immortal.
