Supreme Scriptural Precepts

The author is unknown. The text is likely compiled during the Southern and Northern Dynasties.

Consisting of one scroll, it is included in the Daoist Canon, under the category of Precept Texts in the Dongshen Section (the Section of Cave Spirits).

This book is a compilation of six sets of precepts excerpted from early Taoist scriptures, including The Ten Precepts of the Jade Pure Scripture, The Supreme Precepts of Wisdom, *The Ten Merits and Ten Evils from the Great Profound Jade Book, The Ten Precepts of the Scripture of Contemplating Subtleties and Stabilizing Resolve, The Twenty-Seven Precepts of the Wonderful Grove Scripture, and The Twenty-Seven Precepts of Lord Lao.

The fundamental tenet of these six sets of precepts is to exhort people to do good and eschew evil, observe the precepts faithfully, and refrain from killing, stealing, indulging in lust, practicing fraud, and disobeying parents and teachers, among other injunctions.

These aforementioned precepts also appear in Volumes 38 and 39 of Cloudy Satchel of Seven Lots (Yunji Qiqian).
