What is The Qingnang 青囊
Paul PengShare
Qing, in this context, refers to black. Qingnang is a bag made of black cloth that is slung over the shoulder. Its function is to "secretly store alchemical scriptures"—holding alchemical recipes and scriptures used by Taoists.
Taoist texts praise the function of the Qingnang with a poem: "A piece of cloth, two feet in length and width, who could know its marvelous craftsmanship? It contains various magical treasures, enclosing the vast void of the universe." This small Qingnang can hold all the mysteries and substances in the world, which is simply extremely magical.
