This hexagram is formed by the overlapping of two different trigrams: Dui (Marsh) below and Xun (Wind) above. "Fu" (fú) originally means "to hatch". The date when a hatched egg breaks out of its shell is extremely accurate, which carries the meaning of "trustworthiness". The hexagram shape is solid on the outside and empty on the inside, symbolizing sincerity in one's heart, hence the name Zhong Fu Gua (Sincerity Hexagram). This is the foundation of establishing oneself in the world.
