Collected Awakenings Daoist Classic
The book compiles more than one hundred and fifty poems, which express heartfelt emotions, send replies to friends, or lament the times and warn the world. All the poems propagate the doctrines of the Quanzhen Dao and advocate the cultivation of both nature and life in Internal Alchemy. One poem states: "Consolidating Qi and preserving essence can fill the belly; embracing the primordial and abiding in the One naturally empties the heart." The poems also espouse the unity of the three teachings, claiming: "Buddhism and Taoism have always shared the same origin; Sakyamuni and Laozi together ascend to heaven."
Many poems depict the carefree delight of living in leisure seclusion on the path of the Dao, and their poetic style is somewhat similar to that of Qiu Chuji.
