If beginners want to learn Qi Men well, they should start from these most fundamental symbols.

Firstly, there are the ten Heavenly Stems: Jia, Yi, Bing, Ding, Wu, Ji, Geng, Xin, Ren, and Gui, and the twelve Earthly Branches: Zi, Chou, Yin, Mao, Chen, Si, Wu, Wei, Shen, You, Xu, and Hai. The Eight Gates are: Open, Rest, Birth, Injury, Block, Scene, Death, Alarm. The Eight Spirits are: Value Rune, Coiling Snake, Lunar, Union, White Tiger, Dark Warrior, Nine Earths, and Nine Heavens. The Nine Stars are: Tianpeng, Tianren, Tianchong, Tianfu, Tianying, Tianrui, Tianzhu, Tianxin, and Tianqin. The Nine Palaces are: Qian Palace, Kun Palace, Zhen Palace, Xun Palace, Li Palace, Gen Palace, Kan Palace, Dui Palace, and Central Palace. These are the most fundamental symbols that constitute Qi Men.
