Who is Fan Li 范蠡?

Fan Li (approximately 525 - 455 BC) was a strategist of the Yue State and a scholar of Taoism.

He once offered strategies to assist Goujian, the King of Yue, in restoring the state, and later retired into obscurity. He wrote the two essays of "Fan Li," which have been lost today. Fan Li was an early Taoist scholar, and only fragments of his learning remain in historical records. He was one of the pioneers of Chu learning.
