According to tradition, The Mysterious Pearl Heart Mirror was written by Cui Shaoxuan, a woman of the Tang Dynasty, with annotations by Wang Sunzhi, the Dweller in Truth. Its core tenet expounds the Taoist path of upholding the One to achieve emptiness and practicing inner cultivation in tranquility. The essential purport of this text is roughly the same as that of Wang Sunzhi’s annotated version, except that the verses of the scripture are slightly different and the annotations are more concise. It is suspected to be a different transmitted version of the same book.
