The Beneficent Saviors' Archival Chronicle

Compiled by Fang Wenzhao in the Ming Dynasty.

In five volumes, it is included in The Daozang as a supplementary collection.
This book recounts the life and divine miracles of the True Lords of Boundless Grace and Divine Salvation, Xu Zhizheng and Xu Zhi'e (also known as the Xu Immortals). It covers the True Lords' family lineage, life deeds, posthumous divine manifestations and responsive salvations, poems and proses purportedly spirit-written by the Xu Immortals or eulogizing them, inscriptions of imperial commendations and enfeoffments conferred on the Xu Immortals throughout successive dynasties, ritual protocols for worshipping the True Lords, and the divine lot book of the True Lords. Additionally, it records matters such as the construction of Lingji Palaces and erection of steles in the imperial capital and Fujian during the Ming Dynasty, the imperial court's bestowal of talismans, seals, ritual implements, the appointment of officials to oversee worship, the assignment of households to maintain the shrines, and the income from shrine properties. The author of this book, Fang Wenzhao, served as a shrine official at the Lingji Palace in Fujian; his family had venerated the Xu Immortals for generations since the Five Dynasties.

Part of the materials in this book are taken from two works: Records of the True Lord of Boundless Grace and Divine Salvation and Elegant Literary Works of the Xu Immortals.
