Li Liangzuo était originaire de Jinling, sous la dynastie Tang du Sud (aujourd'hui une partie de Nankin). Son nom de courtoisie était Yuanfu. En 943, première année de l'ère Baoda, il quitta Jinling pour le Fujian, où il vécut en ermite sur le mont Wuyi pendant 17 ans. Il reçut le titre de « Monsieur Yandao Chonghe » (Monsieur qui répand le Dao et incarne l'harmonie).

Il est vénéré comme le « patriarche fondateur du mont Wuyi » et s'est éteint plus tard dans le pavillon Qingxu du mont Wuyi. (Source : Fujian Tongzhi [Archives générales du Fujian]
