The Shangqing Jiutian Zhenling Sanbai Liushisi Bu Yuanlu

Shangqing Jinzhen Yuhuang Shangyuan Jiutian Zhenling Sanbai Liushisi Bu Yuanlu (The Primordial Register of the 365 Divisions of True Spirits from the Nine Heavens of the First Yuan, of the Golden True Jade Emperor of Shangqing), abbreviated as Shangyuan Jiutian Zhenling Xuanlu (The Mysterious Register of True Spirits from the Nine Heavens of the First Yuan).

Consisting of one roll, it is included in the Zhengyi Section of the Daozang (Taoist Canon).

Falsely attributed to being transmitted by Taishang Yuchen Jun (Supreme Jade Dawn Lord) to the Seven True Ones (Jinming Qizhen, Seven True Ones of Jinming), the text records the official positions and titles of the 365 divisions of generals and officials in heaven, as well as the numbers of their subordinates, troops, and staff. Hence, it is also known as Shangyuan Jiutian Zhenling Sanbai Liushisi Bu Jiangjun Xuanlu (The Mysterious Register of the 365 Divisions of Generals, True Spirits from the Nine Heavens of the First Yuan).

It is claimed that the celestial troops and generals recorded in this register "permanently guard the Nine Heavens of the First Yuan to assist the governance of the 36 Emperors." Above, they preside over the circulation of the upright qi of heaven and earth; in the middle, they uphold the destiny of celestial emperors and mortal kings; below, they rescue all sentient beings in the Three Realms. Those who receive and swear allegiance to this register in accordance with the rituals can subdue evil demons and heretical Taoists, enable the upright Dao to prevail, and promote the prosperity of the Taoist teaching. The text contains the ritual procedures and oaths for transmitting and bestowing this register.
