The Annotated Celestial August Jade Scripture

The Supreme Jade Emperor's Scripture of Original Deeds (Annotated and Collated Version)

Originally attributed to "Zhang Liang, the Supreme Minister of the Celestial Pivot".

The text refers to the Jade Emperor as "the August Emperor of the Heavenly Firmament", which indicates that it was presumably compiled by Taoist priests of the Song Dynasty under an assumed name.

It consists of three scrolls and is included in the Scriptures of the True Greatness section, Original Texts category of the Daoist Canon.

Claiming to be a work commissioned by the Three Pure Ones, this text states that Zhang Liang collated and revised the corrupted and timeworn ancient version of The Jade Emperor's Scripture of Original Deeds handed down through generations. Its structure and content are roughly consistent with another version of The Jade Emperor's Scripture recorded in the Daoist Canon, but with collation notes and annotations added—thus making it essentially an annotated and collated edition of the original scripture.

Appended at the end of the text is a section titled "Responses to Scripture Recitation", which compiles stories of seven individuals from the Sui and Tang dynasties who attained good karmic rewards by reciting The Jade Emperor's Scripture.
