The Celestial Astral Codex FULL NAME IS

The Supreme Cave of Truth Scripture of the Esoteric Instructions of the Five Planets

The author is unknown, and the text is believed to have been compiled between the Tang and Song dynasties.

Both Secret Catalogue of the Southern Song Dynasty and Bibliographical Survey of Literature in Comprehensive Records of the Song Dynasty record a text titled Lingbao Scripture of the Esoteric Instructions of the Five Planets in one fascicle, which is suspected to be the very same work.

The existing version included in the Daoist Canon (Daozang) consists of one fascicle, classified under the Scripture Texts Category of the Cave of Truth Division.

Purportedly preached by Yuanshi Tianzun (Primeval Lord of Heaven) to the immortals of heaven, earth and water, the scripture enumerates separately the titles, costumes and official duties of various celestial deities, including the True Lords of the Five Planets of the Five Directions, the True Lord of the Sun, the True Lord of the Moon, the True Lord of Rahu, the True Lord of Ketu, and the True Lords of the Twenty-Eight Mansions, as well as the methods for their enshrinement and worship. A set of four-character incantations is appended at the end of the text.

The scripture states that if mortals encounter the inauspicious influence of malefic planets, they can select a specific True Lord, paint an image of him, offer flowers and fruits, and recite the relevant incantations to dispel disasters and obtain blessings. Furthermore, those who establish ritual altars and perform Taoist ceremonies to pray for blessings on behalf of the people may also attain longevity and immortality.
