The Primordial Celestial Salvation Roll

The author is unknown.

Judging from its content and linguistic style, the text is believed to have been compiled during the Tang Dynasty.

It consists of one fascicle and is included in the Scripture Texts Category of the Cave of Truth Division in the Daoist Canon (Daozang).

Purportedly preached by the Yuanshi Tianzun (Primeval Lord of Heaven) to the True Person of Universal Salvation of the East, the True Person of Longevity Extension of the South, the True Person of Benevolence and Mercy of the West, the True Person of Life Protection of the North, the True Person of Supreme Ultimate of the Upper Realm, and the True Person of Jade Emptiness of the Lower Realm, the scripture enumerates the titles of the Worthy Lords who have attained the Dao in each direction respectively. The list includes 100 Worthy Lord titles of the Eastern Boundless World, 99 Worthy Lord titles of the Southern Boundless World, 73 Worthy Lord titles of the Western Boundless World, 99 Worthy Lord titles of the Northern Boundless World, 95 Worthy Lord titles of the Upper Boundless World, and 97 Worthy Lord titles of the Lower Boundless World, totaling 563 Worthy Lord titles.

The scripture proclaims that all sentient beings are trapped in suffering and cannot attain liberation due to various sins and transgressions. If they hear the titles of these Worthy Lords and sincerely pledge their devotion and reverence to them, they shall "obtain blessings and longevity, and eliminate the grave sins of the three karmic bodies".
