The Primordial Damnation Salvation Scripture
Also known as The True Scripture of the Numinous Treasure on Elevating the Mysterious and Redeeming Beings from the Blood Lake. The author is unknown, and the text is believed to have been compiled during the Song and Yuan dynasties.
It consists of three fascicles and is included in the Scripture Texts Category of the Cave of Truth Division in the Daoist Canon (Daozang).
Purportedly preached by the Primordial Lord of Heaven to an assembly of immortals, the scripture states: There is a place called Fengdu in the northeast, where various hells are situated to punish the sins of mortal beings. Among these hells, one lies at the bottom of the Northern Yin Great Sea, where "blood accumulates to form a lake"—it is named the Blood Lake Hell. This hell is further divided into the Blood Pond, Blood Basin, Blood Mountain, and Blood Sea. All sentient beings who have accumulated karmic sins, regardless of gender, will be cast into the Blood Lake Hell after death to endure extreme suffering with no means of escape. This is especially true for "women who died from childbirth and became blood corpses".
Out of compassion for all beings and to redeem sinful souls, the Primordial Lord of Heaven expounds two incantations, namely The Hidden Words of the Heavenly Qi of the Universal Salvation of the Three Caves Great Methods and The Numinous Treasure Scripture of the Mysterious Brahma of the Three Primes. He also orders the Supreme One Savior of Suffering to lead various deities to purify the Blood Lake and transcend the sinful souls.
If sentient beings uphold precepts, do good deeds, enshrine and recite this scripture, and practice in accordance with its teachings, they will be protected by all deities and attain boundless blessings.
