The Scripture of Emperor Zitong's Manifestations Preached by the Primordial Celestial Worthy
The author is unknown. It was probably compiled during the Yuan Dynasty.
It consists of one scroll and is included in the Benwenlei (Scripture Text Category) of the Dongzhenbu (True Grotto Section) in the Daozang (Taoist Canon).
Falsely attributed to the Primordial Celestial Worthy delivering the discourse for Emperor Zitong, the scripture holds that all living beings suffer from various disasters and the agony of samsara simply because of their jealousy and greed, and their failure to repent. Out of compassion, the Celestial Worthy expounded two five-character hymns of praise, exhorting people to reverently uphold the Dao, abandon evil and embrace goodness.
Attached at the end of the text is the sacred title of Emperor Zitong, which is more than one hundred characters long.
