Lie Xian Zhuan — 涓子 (Juanzi)
列仙传·涓子
原文 Original Chinese
Juanzi was a native of Qi. He liked making pills and consumed their essence by eating them. After three hundred years, he appeared in Qi and authored the Tianren Jing (Scripture of Heaven and Humanity) consisting of forty-eight chapters — a testament to his deep cultivation of the Tao. Later, he fished at Heze. He found a talisman inside the belly of a carp and hid in Dangshan, where he was able to summon wind and rain. He received the "Nine Immortals Method" from Boyang (Laozi). Huainan Shanan, when young, obtained its text but could not understand its meaning. Its three chapters of Qin Xin (The Mind of the Zither) are well-organized.
原文 Original Chinese
Juan, through his pill-making techniques, enjoyed a long life and reached an advanced age. After the Nine Immortals' teachings were transmitted, the Three Talents became orderly. The red carp cast a talisman; thus, he was able to control wind and rain — reflecting the boundless power of the Dao in nature. Strumming the zither in secluded cliffs, he dwelled aloft on distant peaks.
