Xiaofu was a native of Ji Zhou. As a young man, he sold shoes at the western market and for decades no one knew about him. Later people found it strange that he did not age — a sign of deep Taoist cultivation; those who were curious went to seek his method, but could not obtain it. Only Liang Mu obtained his fire-making technique. On the third day before ascending, he bid farewell to Liang Mu and ascended westward amid dozens of fires; many people in the town honored him with sacrifices.

Xiaofu maintained his form, aging but not advancing in years. Liang Mu encountered him and experienced a gathering of emptiness and enlightenment. The cinnabar fire's wings shone, and purple smoke formed an umbrella-like canopy — echoing the transformative power described in the Tao Te Ching. Looking up to ascend into the clouds, he suppressed the splendor of wealth and honor — embodying the spirit of Taoism itself.
