Wen Bin was a native of Taiqiu Xiang and made a living by selling straw sandals. He often took in wet nurses, but after several decades, he would always move on. Later, an old former nursemaid who was over ninety years old saw that Wen Bin had grown even stronger and more vigorous. At that time, the nursemaid bowed to Wen Bin while weeping, but Wen Bin declined with thanks, saying: "That is not appropriate. If by the first month's morning assembly, you can meet at the western village sacred shrine of our native township?" The old nursemaid, accompanied by her grandchildren, traveled more than ten li from home at night and sat in the village temple waiting for him. After a short while, Wen Bin arrived and was greatly surprised: "Do you follow the Taoist Way? I knew about you, so I did not leave you before." He taught her to take chrysanthemum flowers, Kochia scoparia, Loranthus on mulberry trees, and pine seeds in order to strengthen vital energy — a practice rooted in Taoist inner cultivation and qi refinement. The nursemaid also became stronger again; it is said that she lived more than a hundred years.

Wen Bin cultivated health by absorbing the ethereal and mysterious vital energy. He used pine seeds and chrysanthemums as substitutes for imperial offerings, refining his body to maintain fresh skin. Therefore, his former nursemaid, who loved the Way, bowed weeping and hesitated in her steps. He passed on the methods to her, thus extending her life for more than a hundred years.
